Jon Baillie Endowment Fund
The Jon Baillie Memorial Award is made possible through donations to the Jon Baillie Endowment Fund. In 2000 family and friends of the late Port Coquitlam Fire Chief established this award to honour his contribution to the community and to help students pursue a career in firefighting. Jon Baillie retired after 26 years in the Vancouver Fire Service as Assistant Chief Training Officer. He was then the Port Coquitlam Fire Chief, retiring after four years as Chief, to complete his 30 years of service.
Jon Baillie is remembered for his love of the fire service and his involvement in minor sports. He was a familiar sight at the Port Coquitlam Recreation Complex, as he was heavily involved in the City’s Ringette programs. The Jon Baillie Arenas is named as a tribute to the man who served his community of Port Coquitlam with pride and passion—as a City Councillor, businessman, volunteer, coach, instructor, referee and friend.
The JIBC Foundation hopes to build annual cash donations to continue disbursing this award that recognizes students demonstrating outstanding performance in academic and practical skills, teamwork, work ethic, leadership and professionalism. All donations will be put towards six $250 cash awards disbursed each year.
